Arabic word for memory, is a luminaire born from the storied alleyways and grounded traditions of the Old City of Jerusalem. Designed specifically for the intimacy of working from the floor, it pays homage to a life lived close to the earth, where the ground serves as both a seat and a sanctuary. It is a bridge between heritage and function, capturing the soul of ancient markets to bring a weighted, ancestral presence to the modern workspace. The design is defined by its tactile materiality, featuring a jute base that allows the object to settle organically into the floor's texture. A sculptural, scoop-like connector emerges from the textile to hold a slender metal rod—a nod to the hidden industrial infrastructures of the city. This vertical axis allows the concentric light to glide freely, while a dual-axis pivot enables the frame to lean and rotate 180°, following the user’s movement with a fluid, intuitive grace.
